Hybrids: Material Transitions is an installation of objects that explores the production methods of multiples. This new series reinterprets and reinvents natural exoskeletons using the textile medium and its production methods, exploiting old craft processes, new technologies and non-traditional materials. The outcome is a collection of one-off pieces, monotypes and artist tests for open editions, which combine hand dyed silks, leather parchment, stainless steel fabric, laser cutting, reflective inks and even ephemeral materials such as ice.
Hybrids was presented as part of the exhibition D'Disegno: respuesta cubana! at Factoría Habana, a space dedicated to contemporary creative practices in Cuba. The exhibition brings together practitioners in the field of design whose work explores the boundaries with other practices. See more images >
